David, more commonly known as Dave, unexpectedly passed away at the end of 2023. He is deeply missed and was very loved here at CMP.
He started his career at a smaller firm in Casper, Wyoming. Being at a small firm gave him the opportunity to immediately start working directly with clients and gave him real-world experience in tax and audit work. Dave then began working with CMP in 2005. His initial tasks involved assisting the audit department with overflow work and working in our tax department. After a short time in the Logan office, Dave transferred down to our Layton office.
Dave was instrumental in growing our 401(k) practice from around 100 plans, mostly small plans that CMP was the tax firm for, to over 500 plans, which are mostly independent of any other CMP-provided services.
CMP is forever a better company because of his hardworking demeanor and kind spirit.
